Resurfacing on three sections of the A82 north of Balloch are scheduled to start this Sunday, 5th July and will run across four weeks.

The resurfacing works will improve a total of 3.4km of the road and will address existing cracks, potholes and other carriageway defects on a main arterial road from Glasgow to the HIghalnds and with high volume traffic in the Loch Lomond area.

The three projects are each to take place overnight – but starting early and finishing late: between 7pm and 7am. No works will place on Friday or Saturday nights to minimise disruption to weekend traffic.

Traffic management for the improvements will be removed outwith working hours – but temporary restricted speed limits will remain in place at some sections as traffic will be running on a temporary surface.

The three locations are:

A82 Cameron House – Overnight works start Sunday 5 July to Monday 20 July

A 1.7km section of road near Cameron House will be resurfaced across 12 nights.  For the safety of the workforce and road users, a convoy system of traffic management will be in operation while the works are being carried out.   Due to the location of the improvements, the junction to Cameron House will be closed on the nights of Sunday 5 July and Wednesday 15 July with a short diversion in place to allow resurfacing to be carried out.

A82 Stoneymollan – Overnight works start Tuesday 21 July to Monday 27 July

Five nights of resurfacing will take place to improve a 1km section of road from the Stoneymollan Roundabout.  The works will involve a convoy system of traffic management for safety of motorists and road users.

A82 Garelochhead Junction – Overnight works start Tuesday 28 July to Thursday 30 July

A 700m section of the A82 at the Garelochhead Junction is to receive improvements over three nights.  The works will be carried out under two way traffic lights for the safety of the workforce and motorists.

Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland’s North West Unit representative says: ‘The investment from Transport Scotland will allow our teams to ensure the A82 continues to provide a safe and reliable route for motorists between Glasgow and the North.

‘We’ve scheduled these works to take place overnight and during the week to minimise disruption to motorists as much as possible.

‘Motorists are encouraged to plan their journeys ahead where possible and check Traffic Scotland for the most up to date journey information.’
